Crime Stoppers is a community program geared toward public involvement in the fight against crime. It offers cash rewards of up to $1,000.00 and persons who provide information to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous. That's right, all callers remain anonymous, with no pressure to reveal their identity, and still collect their rewards.
Crime Stoppers does not use traces, traps or caller identification. The caller is issued an ID number which is used for all communications. If the caller's information results in the arrest or indictment of an offender, or the arrest of a fugitive, contact with the caller will be through a call back system. Arrangements will be made so the person can receive their reward in cash while preserving their anonymity. The Crime Stoppers Board of Directors is comprised of private citizens from the community. Although law enforcement may give input on rewards or the direction of public relations, the board makes all decisions. The Williams County Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization and are funded entirely from private donations.
